Curated group show
ABOUT
This tapestry piece was designed especially for the reading room at The National Culture House of Iceland in Reykjavik. The Culture House was built in 1906-1908 to house the National Library and National Archives of Iceland and was opened to the public in 1909.
This contemporary tapestry is made with a high tech digital loom. The materials are delicate Japanese paper yarns & linen, woven in a method that allows the artwork to show on both side. Inverted colors. Size is 170 x 220cm.
An interpretation of antique textiles and the symbolic value of flowers, earth and sky during the middle ages. Each piece is 170 x 230 cm. A delicate merge of traditional natural fibers from all over the world. Signe directed a dutch industrial high tech loom into creating fabric-screens with a feeling of handmade complexity.
Exhibited at IMM Cologne, Icelandic designweek, I/Object gallery in Belgium and CHART Copenhagen.
